A first look at the LoopForge core: a private assistant that runs entirely on your Mac. Give it your documents and a goal; it answers with sources, and an interrupted goal continues from where it stopped. Your data stays on your computer.

Privacy

LoopForge makes no network connections: no account, no analytics, no update checks. You download the model yourself in your browser, then everything runs on your Mac. Your documents, answers and settings are stored in an encrypted workspace that only your passphrase opens.

Get started in four steps

  1. Install

    Open the downloaded file and drag LoopForge into Applications. The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other Mac app.

  2. Create your workspace

    Give it a name and a recovery passphrase of at least 10 characters. Everything LoopForge stores is encrypted with it. Keep it safe: if you lose it, nobody can recover your workspace.

  3. Add a model

    Download SmolLM3 3B (Q4_K_M) (1.92 GB, Apache-2.0) using the link below, then choose Settings → Import model and pick the file. LoopForge checks its size and SHA-256 before using it, and you can delete the download afterwards.

  4. Add documents and ask

    In Memory, import text, Markdown, JSON or CSV files. Then ask a question or set a goal on Home. Answers cite the documents they came from and are saved in your workspace.

  • Answers grounded in your own documents, with numbered sources
  • Goals that run as steps and survive quitting or a crash
  • Pause, resume and cancel, with a timeline of what happened
  • Encrypted workspace, plus encrypted export and restore
  • Works with networking turned off once the model is imported

Known limitations

  • This is the general core. The growth pack described on our home page is still in development.
  • Answers can include details that aren't in your documents, and sometimes cite documents that don't support them. Treat them as drafts and check them against your sources.
  • Questions are one at a time; conversations don't continue yet.
  • You enter your passphrase each time you open the app.
  • Apple silicon Macs only. No Windows, Linux or phone versions yet.

Verify your download

The app and the disk image are signed with our Developer ID and notarized by Apple. To check the file yourself, run this in Terminal and compare the result:
